Open positions at Enderby, West Kelowna and Kelowna 

$18–$20/hour - Permanent, Part-time Sept - June, Full-time July & August

Thrive program staff are energetic, outdoorsy adults who have previous experience leading children in faith-based group settings. Generally, program staff work approximately 21 hours per week, Monday to Friday afternoons Sept - June.

Shared health benefits, professional development and staff retreats. Program leaders lead and mentor groups of school-age children in activities and out trips while ensuring the health and safety and personal development of their group also supporting the manager in program planning and indoor and outdoor facility maintenance.

The ideal candidate loves to be with children and see them grow, they will be skilled in and enjoy some of the following: swimming, sports, hiking, nature activities, arts and crafts, song leading and games. 

Qualifications

  • 19 years of age or older
  • 20 hours or more of child-related training (willing to train the right person)
  • Class 4 driver's license (or ability to obtain with our assistance)
  • Emergency child or emergency community first aid certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Clear criminal record check

Positions available as of June 4th, 2024

Calgary Daycamp Program Director 

$21/hour - Seasonal, Full-time

June 21st - August 1st

Tasks and Responsibilities:
Program planning, preparation and implementation of day camp activities within a adventure-based day camp program, including, but not limited to; spiritual development, group time, out trips, games, crafts, cooking, nature exploration, educational elements and leadership development activities. The student will also be directly responsible for the safety and well-being of the children in attendance. Will also assist with required administration, and parent communication. Willing to train the right candidates with previous experience working with children in group settings. 

Day Camp Leader (Enderby, Surrey, Calgary NE) 

$18–$19/hour - Seasonal, Full-time

Childcare worker for a day camp program for ages 5-12 will lead and support all children in a faith-based camp setting but have a special focus on children who require extra support in order to be safe and succeed in an active outdoor group setting due to physical, psychological, emotional or other challenges such as language barriers, hearing impaired etc. This extra support allows children with diverse abilities to participate in camp life and activities who wouldn't otherwise be able to participate. Conditions often supported in camps include Autism, ADD, ADHD, FAS, PTSD and language or hearing barriers. The worker will assist with extra needs kids for the safety and well-being of these children but will also engage as a regular camp activity leader, leading activities & overseeing the general health and safety and recreation of the whole group, in order to help create an all-inclusive environment without certain children standing out. Rec activities include activities like swimming, hiking, forest and pond play, crafts, camp songs, nature exploration, drama, storytelling, sports and more. Lifeguard

$21/hour - Seasonal, Full-time

The day camp lifeguard/waterfront director will ensure safe waterfront activities and provide water safety & swimming training for the children in a faith-based licenced day camp. While not at the waterfront the student will engage in leading regular nature-based day camp activities, such as supervision & leading games, hikes, nature activities crafts etc and assisting with administration, parent communication and promotion of the program. please explore our website before applying

Day Camp Minibus Driver 

$20/hour - Seasonal, Full-time

Class 4 driver responsible for transporting kids to and from educational and nature-based camp out-trips and activities in a faith-based. Including performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, fueling up and basic maintenance of the vehicle. The driver participates in the supervision and recreational leadership of camp kids while not in transit. Horse Camp Assistant (Kelowna) (filled)

$18/hour - Seasonal, Full-time

Horse camp assistants will support groups of day camp children participating in Horse Camp day trips. The horse camp assistants will learn and lead under the guidance of the ranch director for the care of horses, assisting kids in emotional support, guiding kids in riding, grooming, and hand-leading children that require support in riding exercises. The camp leaders may also help with administration, handling waivers, registration, reporting etc as well as lead kids in ranch-related camp activities outside of horsemanship such as hikes or arts and crafts. Horse camp leaders will lead and support all children but have a special focus on children who require extra support in order to be safe and succeed in an active outdoor group setting due to physical, psychological, emotional or other challenges such as language barriers, hearing impairment etc. This extra support person allows for children with diverse abilities to participate in camp life and activities who wouldn't otherwise be able to participate. Conditions often supported in camps include Autism, ADD, ADHD, FAS, PTSD and language or hearing barriers. The support worker will focus on assisting with the extra needs for the safety and well-being for these children but will also engage as a normal camp activity leader when able in order to help create an all-inclusive environment without certain children standing out as "designate" with a worker.

Executive Assistant (filled)

$18–$19/hour - Seasonal, Full-time

To assist executive staff within a faith-based children's charity administration office including assisting with online platforms for program registration, financial data entry, advertising and marketing, client care by phone and email, social media, policy and procedure writing, assembling child care licensing information, creation and collection of client surveys, general office upkeep, office errands, booking meetings, schedule keeping, etc. Please explore our website before applying.

Social Media Community Manager (filled)

$18–$19/hour - Seasonal, Full-time

The job includes designing graphics for online marketing, social media, printed promotional materials and video editing to promote the vision and mission of our faith-based children's programs. You will lead the center managers in effective social media and promotional tasks. This position includes graphic design for materials that support nature-based childcare programming and staff development. As a member of the office team, some miscellaneous administrative tasks will be required, as well as requirements to be out capturing pictures and video on the location of the kids' camps and adventurous destinations. Thrive Kids Canada is looking for directors to lead the evangelistic focused, nature- based after school care & summer day camps in Enderby and Calgary NE locations with a start date to be determined depending on availability.

The Children’s Outreach Director will provide spiritual direction and full management of THRIVE nature based Out-of-School Care Program according to the vision, goals and standards set out by THRIVE and Licencing Authority. 

The Children’s Outreach Director will create bridges and instigate relationship-building opportunities between the chapel congregation and Thrive families, assisting in programs that bridge Thrive kids and their families to other church ministries. The Children’s Outreach Director will also create bridges between the partner church/ Thrive with the greater community through events and community involvement. 

The ideal candidate will be passionate to be part of the team of the local church, exemplifying passion, energy, and ability to lead children in outdoor recreation and faith-based settings. 

Full time annual salary from $42-45,000 with group benefits, performance raises, growth & retention bonuses. 

Locations: Kelowna, Mountainview Church and Enderby, BC. Enderby Evangelical Chapel

Qualifications:

  • Christian ministry training or experience
  • Some level of Biblical training and or official discipleship training certificate. ie. YWAM DTS
  • Physically fit, able to run and carry children in case of an emergency as well as participate in outdoor sports and recreation such as hiking, biking and field sports
  • Proven experience in leading children in  recreational or educational groups settings
  • 20 hours or more of child-related training (Calgary location only: requires level 3 ECE)
  • Class 4 driver's license (or ability to obtain with our assistance)
  • Clear criminal record check
  • Emergency child or emergency community first aid certificate
  • Food Safe Certificate
